I've been thinking about change and how some is for the worse and some for the good, and often it can be hard. We lose loved ones, walk away from jobs or relationships, change homes, lose health or friends, enter new seasons of life, or even simply lose confidence. As quickly as I thought this, God impressed on me that I would never lose or have to miss HIM. I could go to the other side of the world and HE would still be with me. I could sit in solitude or be in the middle of a thousand, and HE would be with me. Through peace and calamity, gain and loss, joy and sorrow, here and there, HE would be with me. What a wonderfully comforting truth I could wrap around myself and so can you. "O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways." (Psalm 139:1-3)
God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5)
What a great treasure we carry, knowing that Christ lives IN us - alive, warm, bright and powerful. We will never have to find out what it would feel like to have Him gone.
Emmanuel!
